Happy birthday, Grandma. I miss you every day.
I started the “One Little Word” challenge last year. And as I love to make things more difficult, I decided instead of choosing a word that would direct my year, I would also make this an alphabetical challenge. Last year my word was ACTUALIZE.
Yes, I do like to complicate my life. It really would have been so much easier if I could have meditated for any word, but now I have to meditate on a specific portion of the alphabet. But this is what makes my life interesting.
As part of the AJC, we create a visual representation of this word. I was struggling with it for a few weeks, but am quite pleased with how this turned out.
I finished my first Artist Trading Card, today.
As Jan and I stood at Fed-Ex waiting for it to print, I told him that I had initially started the pic as a b-day card for my friend, because it is a raven in a party hat, and she loves ravens and she loves a good party.
He looked at me and started laughing. “All I can think is Party Nevermore.”
Ahhh, Jan. And now the piece is named. I guess it wasn’t the right b-day card.
It really makes sense that I would create a raven doll. I devoured the Somerset Studio’s The Art of Paper and Mixed Media this weekend and much of the issue was dedicated to art inspired by Edgar Allan Poe.
I hope my fellow Flying sister enjoys her ATC as much as I enjoyed making it.
